Mental Health & Wellbeing

At Beoley First School we believe that mental health and wellbeing provision is essential for fostering a positive learning environment, supporting children’s emotional development, and ensuring they can thrive academically and socially. Our provision aligns with the Department for Education’s guidance on mental health and the statutory requirements of the Relationships and Health Education curriculum.
A whole-school approach is adopted, ensuring that mental health is embedded in daily routines, curriculum planning, and school culture. This includes:

  • PSHE and RSHE Lessons – Teaching children about emotions, resilience, relationships, self-regulation, and coping strategies.
  • Pastoral Support – Providing safe spaces, mentoring, and interventions for children needing additional emotional support.
  • Physical Wellbeing – Encouraging active lifestyles, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques to support mental health.
  • A Nurturing Environment – Promoting inclusivity, positive relationships, and a growth mindset through assemblies, peer support, and teacher modelling.
  • Staff Training – Equipping teachers with the knowledge and skills to identify and respond to mental health concerns.

By prioritising mental health and wellbeing, our school can help children develop self-awareness, confidence, and emotional literacy, empowering them to navigate challenges and succeed in all aspects of their education and personal lives.

Our Designated Senior Mental Health Lead is Mrs Bartlett and our wellbeing Governor is Sarah Phillips
If you would like further advice or support please contact Mrs Bartlett via the school office.
